Incognito hides history from the next person on your couch. It does not hide you from the internet.

Private browsing stops your browser from saving history and cookies. Your ISP, your employer, the sites you visit, and the ads following you around still see plenty.
The lesson: incognito is privacy from your roommate, not from the network. For real anonymity you need a lot more than a new tab.
