Zero-day has entered the chat

You can be 100% compliant and still get owned by the bug nobody had a patch for yet.

A zero-day is a vulnerability with zero days of warning — exploited before the vendor even knows it exists, let alone ships a fix.

Why "100% secure" is a punchline: security isn't a finish line. Defense-in-depth, fast patching, and good detection are how you survive the unknown.

The lesson: assume breach. Monitor like the perimeter has already failed, because eventually it will.
